Immer wieder aT|ToD
Noch gar nicht mal allzulange ist es her, dass Spieler wie ToD & FaTC eine Spielsperre in der WarCraft 3 Championsleague aufgrund des unberechtigten Einsatzes im Trikot des

It appears that the ill-famed French WC3 player ToD from clan Armateam is at it again. The French WC3 starlet was found guilty of aliasing as his friend Byrden in a WGtour Clanleague game between clans aAa and m@gic. Owing to ToD’s contribution to the match, the final score was in favour of m@gic. After a protest from aAa, the league’s administration decided that the games where ToD took part would be cancelled which means a win for aAa. You can find out about more details here. This is not the first time ToD has shown exemplary benevolence towards his friends and - as he, Nuke and a few other WC3 celebrities put it – helped them. ToD and a few other players have been banned for a season from the WC3L for doing just the same thing. Incidentally, the previous cheatings involved clan aT as well. As a result of what went on, clan m@gic stopped WC3. It seems like Armateam does not really care about their reputations or fair play. Would they care if notorious cheaters were not allowed to compete in events like the ESWC?Statement vom Team aAa
We thought long and hard about the matter before deciding to write this, but what is pushing us to do so are passionate gamers who see their world and their passion ruined and destroyed by the mistakes of a minority amongst players, a minority that does not think before taking actions, and only think about winning without considering the effects it has on the community. We are forced to acknowledge that in the heart of the French scene, in a league where there is little at stake, some have cheated and that we must actively respond to this. Who? What? How? Where? That is not where the question currently lies. The purpose of this article is not to point fingers but rather to awaken the players, managers, and even sponsors. In a world that wishes to appeal to the mainstream and structure itself, to see players, by simply "aliasing," put a whole institution in gestation at stake cannot be tolerated. Now that we have unleashed the word, it is possible to go to the heart of the article. Aliasing is a simple technique that consists in having a player compete in the stead of another less skilled player, this in a competition or an event. Solutions against aliasing were always diverse and often mitigated, the majority of people preferring to look the other way. After the star case in WC3L, we thought that people had become aware of this problem, but apparently we were wrong. The case we will evoke concerns us in a direct manner as we are Sunday the 25th of April, day 6 of WGtour Clanleague starts off, and more specifically *aAa* vs m@gic. Suspenseful clanwar because lead by 2-0 the aAa come back with 2-2 then lose the last 2v2 1-2, prolonged close calls, interesting and close games. Once the clanwar has over, aAa had been defeated. Is that it? No, because a detail impressed everyone, we’re talking about magic.Byrden, a.k.a. Artsofrdm, who was masterly in this clanwar, maybe a bit too masterly… I’m sure you understand where we’re getting at, it was not Byrden who played and we turn our heads to a long-term friend of the team magic: [aT]ToD, member of Armateam. I will skip all the details revolving around proof for the prior statement; I will simply expose you to the ways through which the aAa was able to prove that this was aliasing. -The first sign of evidence, which isn’t really evidence, calls for a critical sense and a view of skilled players who have perfect knowledge of the game. Every player has his/her own particular style, is more or less comfortable during a match, micromanages his/her units in such a way that could almost directly be associated with him/her, and which would allow to recognize him/her through the technique. It’s like a signature. A player like ToD who possesses one of the best levels in Europe, is easily recognizable compared to an average French player such as Byrden. -Let’s now get into technique, more specifically the level of apm (actions per minute). Every player has a certain speed on the keyboard and with the mouse that vary greatly from one person to another: it can go from 80 apm to more than 250 ! Comparing the numbers with the help of W3chart, we understood that those of "byrden" in this clawar and those of ToD in general were very similar, around 140. -Finally, the last point, not often used, which led us to shed light on the matter upon precise analysis of the hotkeys. These hotkeys are control keys for players. They vary often from one person to another. One must know that it’s VERY DIFFICULT to change certain habits and ways of playing one is accustomed to, it’s like asking a CS player to change from letters to the arrows, or vice versa ! Once again, everything is in agreement…Byrden was not playing as he usually would… We asked WGtour to analyze this case on their end, and they confirmed our hypothesis. The points won by ByrToD have been canceled and the score of the clanwar has changed. This may seem sufficient, but if we’re writing this text, it is not to blame magic or to push in the nail a little deeper, rather it is to try to convince the whole community that this kind of practice should definitively disappear. Furthermore, it was not ToD’s first attempt at this kind of cheating, but no sanctions have been taken given that aT is not part of clanleague. He is, however, exemplary for many players (as a French champion), and what an example !! To end this story, the magic.café (the iNet coffee that sponsored 100% this team, decided to stop the team ; they have not specified how long they intend to do so) to not get harmed, business-wise, but also for having been misled.
