Mit dem Quake4 Spieler

Interview with mTw.PR|forever

“Though he was not the most well-mannered player, he certainly added color to the Quake 4 scene and he was also a top contender. It would be a great shame to lose him. It would be sad to see his story end like that.“ These lines wrote GGL.com-Editor Carmac about Ivo „forever“ Lindhout, after forever lost a almost surely won match at the ESWC, left the Playerarea inflamed in rage and spoke about the uncertain end of his career. Ivo talked with us about the situation from his point of view. Furthermore we talked with forever about his offline nervousness and about what he is intend to do against this disadvantage. Is it true? [pp]forever[/pp]: No it's not true. After the game against Purry I was really upset and really disappointed, because I just made mistakes in and before the overtime, when I was winning. I totally gave it away. So I was really disappointed and that's why I said stupid stuff. I am not going to say that I want to quit. I will continue gaming. But it's every time the same thing. I play a tournament really good and I know I can reach the Top 3. But when a deciding situation comes up my nerves stake over. There is nothing I can do against it. And then I'm going to f**k up the game. [cc]mymTw[/cc]: So what happened in this game against Purry? We saw you smashing a glass-bottle. What was in your mind in this situation? [pp]forever[/pp]: I was winning the game. I mean I won the first map 30 to 2. As I said I just gave it away. I am not like the other players, when they lose, they feel really shit about it but they go like: “okay, next time better.” I am not like that. I see gaming as a real sport. If I loose, I let my emotions going especially if I loose a game by my own stupidity. It's fine, if my opponent leads with many frags, then I know, he is just the better player. But it wasn't in the game against Purry. [cc]mymTw[/cc]: You told me, that your preparation was really concentrated and hart. Can you tell me something about that training for the ESWC? [pp]forever[/pp]: After being in America last week for the WSVG in Louisville I started practising with Av3k. I recognized, that I can give everybody a really good game. Av3k and me we always play 50/50 and when I see the other players, I know, I can also do that. But when I start playing against them and it comes to a decision map or decision moment it's just going wrong. It must be something in my mind. [cc]mymTw[/cc]: Is it this offline-atmosphere with the audience behind you and your opponent next to you that deranges you? [pp]forever[/pp]: No, I like such events, I really do. When there is a lot of money on the line, and ten thousand dollar is a lot of money, I obviously get more nervous than the other players. I've got no idea what it is. [cc]mymTw[/cc]: The next big tournament is the WSVG in Europe. If you will participate, what can you do against your nerves? [pp]forever[/pp]: Yes, I will be there. We have got a month off right now. I probably just keep up playing, watch many demos and things like that. I will try to figure out my mistakes. And then I'll try to have a fresh start. [cc]mymTw[/cc]: Do you still have the chance to get it to the WSVG Finals? [pp]forever[/pp]: Yes, I still have the chance, but I have to be Top3 or Top5 at the next events. I can't make any mistakes. The problem for the next event in Europe will be the seeding, because I am not in Dallas on this week-end and my placement in Louisville also wasn't the best. [cc]mymTw[/cc]: Just a few words to Av3k, do you think he will be the dominating player for the next months? [pp]forever[/pp]: I am not sure, if he will be the dominating player. But he surely will be in the Top 3 on every event. I have been playing a lot with Av3k and I saw him playing. He is a amazing player without any nerves. He's just sitting there, so calm and relaxed. That's nothing many people are able to do. He doesn't even swear in the games. If he loses a frag by an own mistake, he just thinks: all right, I'll get you back. It doesn't matter. He is a really good guy. [cc]mymTw[/cc]: Some players said, that Av3ks movement is great, but his aiming isn't on the same level. What do you think about his skills? [pp]forever[/pp]: I do not agree. His LG is really good, same for his rail. If you compare it to the other players, his might not be as good as lets say toxjq. But his control on the map, the tactics that he uses are phenomenal. If you think of this final-game cooler against Av3k on the stage. I have been looking at the game and I thought: “WOW, how can you play like this?” [cc]mymTw[/cc]: Who will be the winner in the duel toxjq versus Av3k? [pp]forever[/pp]: It's hard to say, we will see on the next WSVG-Stop. It surely will be a close game again. [cc]mymTw[/cc]: The next Unreal Tournament comes this year. Is it an option for you to change from Quake to UT? [pp]forever[/pp]: I don't know what I am going to do after Quake. We obviously have to see what the CGS is going to do will they pick up UT or stay with Quake. If they pick up Unreal Tournament, then WSVG will probably make a Quake tournament, where the CGS Player can't play, because they have a contract with the CGS. There are many things in the next year, that are unsure. Also the prize-money. People need to live from the money. We need to see, what's going to happen. [cc]mymTw[/cc]: Do you think, it was a good decision to go to mTw? [pp]forever[/pp]: mTw is a great team. A few months ago, I got a phonecall from botman. He asked me, if i wanted to come to Berlin to speak about joining mTw. So I went to Berlin and we talked about the contract, which I directly signed. I haven't had any problems with mTw at all. The management is really good, I can phone them, whenever I want. It's fine. [cc]mymTw[/cc]: Thanks a lot.
