mTw.kwazq & Bootcamp - written by zonic
KWAZQ:
Guten Tag, Hello, and Hejsa allezusammen, all.
This blog will obviously be in English for me since most of you guys don’t understand Danish, and I don’t write that well in German. I’m going to write about our trip to Borup, Denmark where we participated in the tournament called kwazq.
As expected we made it to the final where we played against Xlbet.Mirror in an exciting match.
Friday:
I’m going
to tell you about my trip to the event - and it didn’t go as expected as you might
have guessed now. It started out with my mTw computer crashing several days
before the event. I thought I could mix some of my CS skills into how to fix a
computer, but I must admit that it is not my field so to speak. I ended up
destroying the computer completely and I had to call my boss!! (Lars Eiben aka CEO of mTw). He got me a new computer which I had
to get in Kolding (South Jylland, 350km from the event). A guy called Andy who also works for mTw
drove the computer up to Denmark from Germany (<3 Andy), and when I got it I
had like 1 hour to drive 350 km to kwazq. Fortunately
the tournament was delayed so all made it to the event in time.
We started
out well finishing 1st in our group and we were now looking forward
to the playoffs the next day.
Saturday:
We met a Danish team called KlarPiratStart in our first match on Tuscan which is a great map for us. We have been playing some Tuscan over the past months - I won’t say we play it as much as the other 4 original maps - but I do believe we are one of the top teams in the world who plays it the most.
We won the match 16-3 and were about to meet Playzone who has some really talented upcoming players in Denmark. And as expected we couldn’t underestimate Playzone and the match ended too tight, 16-13.
Luckly for us, CMAX surprised the Danish scene by beating the Danish mixteam –o-0-o— 16-11 on nuke and we were not facing them on train which is one of our greater maps, especially against Danish teams. We won 16-2 and the Classico against us and XLBet.Mirror were about to start.
The map was
inferno, it hasn’t been our best map lately and we have been playing
extremely inconsistent over the past months - considering inferno to be our
best map at Kode5 and ESWC Masters 08. Anyways we still feel pretty confident
on that map so we were satisfied with the setup for the Upper Bracket Final.
XLbet has really been studying us by making some CT Setup which fit perfectly into our gaming style and it took some rounds for us before we finally got through their defense. After a good CT side we were through to the Grand Final at Kwazq with the scores 16-11.
Sunday:
I woke up around 10:00 (2 hours before the Final) and XLbet was leading like 9-0 as CT on train if I remember correctly, so we knew we were meeting our rivals once again. I went over to the event to start warming up to the match. We talked a bit about what map to choose against XLbet, and after some “Rock paper, scissor” mJe won against ave and we were playing de_nuke.
We started CT and lost the pistol-round and the 4th round which meant a 5-0 lead for XLbet as T on nuke. At that point I knew we had to wake up otherwise this would go into two maps, so we started winning some clutch rounds and especially ave was on fire for us in that half. We managed to get 8-7 lead as CT, not the best outcome for us but looking at the way the match started we were satisfied with the result. We decided to make a fake ramp-rush in the pistol round, but they were ready for us and once again they looked well-prepared. We lost the pistol round, and the 5th round, but after that we found our A-game and we started breaking them down slowly. All of us started aiming well, and we ended up winning the match and the whole event 16-13.
BOOTCAMP:
We decided to take a day off and I went home to my sister (been a while since I’ve seen her) and whiMp had something to do as well (:D) – The other 3 went home to ave to set up their computers etc getting ready for our bootcamp.
The next
day we all met and started playing and I must admit it has been a while since
we have been playing so much. We all have around like 70-100 hours, and
considering people only had 25-50 before kwazq, people have really being
playing a lot.
Some of the teams we have been playing against:
- Alternate aTTaX
- Meet Your Makers
- Fnatic
- Made in Brazil
- wooSai
-
Mousesports
We try to avoid playing teams who are in our group, but sometimes it’s difficult to find a pcw and in this case we played some training matches against fnatic.
We are still playing much and the other 4 are playing Deathmatch right now as I’m writing this blog.
Expectations for EM3:
Our Expectations for Extreme Masters 3 is clearly, we are absolutely going for the 1st place, since we are ranked the number one team in the world, we are willing to do whatever it takes to stay there. But this is actually the first time we qualify to the playoffs in Extreme Masters, so we also have a personal goal with this tournament. We know it is going to be a tough tournament, but if we take a look at our group compared to the other group, we have to qualify, and with fnatic making roster changes so late before the event, we can only be satisfied with a 1st place.
My personal Predictions:
Group A: Group B:
mTw Mousesports
fnatic mYm
XLbet.Mirror SK-Gaming
However,
Group B is in a random order : ) - This is absolutely impossible to guess what the
outcome will be.
We have been training a lot up to this event, and we will do what we can to win. Hope you guys enjoyed the blog from our very first event 2009, the bootcamp and our thoughts of the upcoming event, Extreme Masters 3.
Vi ses! – Bye – Auf Wiedersehen!
