Interviewing hudzG

The english man at mTw

The changes at mTws Counter-Strike:Source team got some attention. There where many discussions about the addition of hudzG and the changes of the internal communication. Today we want to give you the opportunity to get to know the player and the person George 'hudzG' Hoskins.

mymTw: Hello George, It's the first season in the EPS for you what do you expect to achieve with your team and how do you t hink can you influence that?

George 'hudzG' Hoskins: I think we all expect to win this EPS season, and if everything goes to plan I have no reason to believe otherwise, Im really looking forward to competing in my first season as its the most professional league ive been in aside from CGS. I think I influence the team by bringing fresh and new ideas to the way we play, which i think will surprise a lot of people, as well as motivating the guys as im known to be a big motivator by everyone i guess :D

mymTw: That sounds confident, how is the training going at the moment, is everyone speaking english already?

'hudzG': The training is going really well for the little time we have played together, the communication is coming along just fine everyone talks pretty much perfect english apart from the odd time I'm asked in german to join a server (laughs), and also the more I play with the guys I seem to pick up tiny bits of in game german

mymTw: So you don't think the in game communication will be a disadvantage?

'hudzG': No not at all , at first I was a bit worried but after the first week of playing all of the guys have gel'd really well together and if someone does make a mistake in english we just correct it and have a joke together about it, and this way everyone is comfortable and its going perfectly

mymTw: Tell us a bit about the first contact between you and the team, who had the idea of joining forces?

'hudzG': Well a long time ago, I always joked around saying how good it would be to play in the german EPS and how I would do it if I ever got the chance. Anyway towards the end of last season me and hossa started joking around together telling me to learn german etc and the more we spoke I think the more we realized how good it would be, but we just had to wait for the right opportunity to arise as he knew a lot of people were shuffling around or quitting the game. I think it helped that I had previously known osi from i30 and played a lot of mixes with nooky and humpen so it all just fell in to place.

mymTw: So you were "in love" with playing in the german EPS for some time? Why do you think it is one of the best leagues in the world for CS:S?

'hudzG': Well ever since I was in CGS nothing felt the same, no lan I attended or league could replace it, and after playing in EPS UK and attending one of there IFNG's I couldn't believe the location and how it was setup it just didn't feel how it should. After attending and IFNG in england I did some research i saw how big some of the events the german EPS put on and how much smoother it is run and then I got told more and more about the league and how professional it all is, and just knew it was an environment I wanted to play in. Just tiny things like the people, the german community, the player cards you need all make it that much better for someone like me

mymTw: You already mentioned IFNG's, have you planned any offline events yet?

'hudzG': I think we are hoping to do a pre EPS bootcamp if possible before the ENC finals and then yes I will be flying over for the IFNG games when required and as for lans we hope to attend SLAP and more after that. Thats one thing for sure we will be attending the big international events before anyone worries that we will just stay in Germany (smiles)

mymtw: Let's talk a bit about you, tell us where you come from and how old you are

'hudzG': I come from Bristol in south-west of England and im 20 years old , it's a pretty nice place to live really. I live around 5 minutes from the town center so the night life is always good and we've just had a new town center built which is awesome as theres always something to do.

mymTw: When did you start playing CS S and when did you chose to step it up to become a pro gamer?

'hudzG': I started playing CSS in 2006 and it was around 2007 at the time of i30/31 that CSS really took off and I wanted to push to become professional, as that was just when CGS was getting to its peaks so it was all anyone was thinking about so I set a goal to become drafted and luckily I was drafted in 2008.

mymTw: Next to playing CS what do you like to do in your free time?

'hudzG': Mostly I like to chill out with my girlfriend or friends and since it's summer it's pretty good weather here in UK theres lots of chilling to do. Just normal things really , going out, partying, chilling, having a good time enjoying live before I get to old to (laughs).

mymTw: Do you have any favorite movies or series you wanna share?

'hudzG': True blood = best thing I've ever watched ever in the entire world, go download, go buy, go watch (laughs). Apart from that I love comedy's / action.

mymTw: Let's go back to you and the team, you will visit Germany for a couple of events as you mentioned, did you ever visit the country before?

'hudzG': Nope unfortunately I've never had a chance to visit the country, but I can't wait from what I've heard from the guys it sounds like a really amazing place so I can't wait

mymTw: If you had the chance to choose, which IFNG would you like to attend? One in cologne or at Munich?

'hudzG': Munich cause then i can go chill at hossa's place (laughs). No but really I'm not sure both places sound pretty awesome. The main place i hope to visit if I can get a chance would obviously be Berlin but unsure if i will or not.

mymTw: So since hossa is from Bavaria he must have told you about german beer, you're looking forward to taste that?

'hudzG': He's told me about a few, Augstiner, Franziskaner and Erdinger, he also told me about that awesome awesome beer festival you guys have which looks insane (laughs).

mymTw: Did you gave yourself any goals to achieve while playing under the mTw flag? You mentioned that you clearly want to win the EPS but are there any other achievement you would like? MVP or any team related things?

'hudzG': I think most of my goals are team related, I'm pretty fed up of trying to please the public constantly about personal performances as most of mine are shortly forgotten, but I think our main goals are firstly to get to the EPS finals, then we want to win EPS. But after those two our main one is to become the best and give teams like power/verygames the competition they deserve.Of course I'd like to make a positive impact on the team and my own personal goal is obviously to give them something they haven't had before so we can push our limits and become the best. Time will tell but we are all very confident in this team.

mymTw: Are you interested in any sports beside the electronic ones? Do you have a favorite club or something like that?

'hudzG': Yes , im a very big fan of Rugby and Tennis but mainly more recently I've followed a lot of formula 1, and love to watch whenever I can

mymTw: Did you follow the World Cup in South Africa?

'hudzG': Yes, but as everyone knows England not so great. And after they went out I actually wanted Holland to win but that was a mega fail as well (laughs).

mymTw: So do you think they should allow Vuvuzelas at the IFNG's?

'hudzG': Hell NO! (laughs)

mymTw: What tips can you give to someone who is trying to get to the pro level, how can they improve their game?

'hudzG': Well i know everyone says it, but it really is about playing alot, watching a lot of demos, and always looking for ways to improve. The best way i found was find a group of people you enjoy playing with and attend events with them eventually you will become noticed and they will as well.

mymTw: Ok we're at the end of this nice interview and it has been a pleasure, do you have any words for your fans and the other people out there?

'hudzG': Just like to thank everyone for supporting us, all the fans with there kind words to me from the Germany community, my team, my manager, our sponsors. I hope I can do you guys and mTw proud and I hope for a long a successful time once again thank you to everyone <3
