IEM5 World Championship - Day 1
On the first day at the IEM5 World Championship, taking place at CeBIT in Hannover, Group B, which has so frequently been called 'the group of death' will be played out. Let's take a closer look at the group composition:
A total of 15 matches will take place, with three games always taking place at the same time. There will be five matches which you will only be able to follow on ESL TV, one per round. In the group stage, only the winner will automatically progress to the knock-out phase, whereas the second and third-placed teams will enter the relegation stage with the teams from Group A that are in the same situation as them.

SK Gaming to win Group B
SK Gaming finished day 1 on the top of Group B (group of death as some of you called it) and they secured a spot in the semi-finals. From the begining, it was very hard to give predictions, as for the last rounds none of the top four placed teams were saved as all of them could still walk out empty-handed. Lions did a surprising move and did not voted out de_inferno, a decision that sent them home after redCode won the game with the score of 16-8.
In the final group match, Na'Vi played their last card against fnatic on de_dust2, a crucial match that they managed to win with the score of 16-9, after a convincing 12-3 in the first half. On the other way, SK Gaming did a great job by wining the match agains Evil Geniuses with the score of 16-11 after being down 9-6 at the half time.
After all, SK Gaming finished 1st, followed by 2nd Na'Vi and 3rd fnatic. The last two teams will meet the second and third placed sides from Group A.
