Today is a sad day

mTw.int will be released

During that time some players changed on the team, but finally we can look back together on a very constant time. There were close friends, and like every relationship there were up and downs. Finally the day comes where you have to go different ways. with the leave of Alexander (ave) mTw initiated a conultation with the players and speak about the end of CS 1.6 mTw.int. The last major event should be IEM New York. Certainly, a 1st place would have been a grand finale, but cause of the sickness of minet we could, in cooperation with "HLTV.org" run in at least one acceptable 3rd place. It would be not the same for us with a nearly new Danish squad and therefore we stop working now rather than now again to rotate the personnel carousel. In order for the Counter-Strike: mTw is 1.6 era ended and we will look at new games. Our Team captain Danny "zonic" Soerensen will give us an interview and also announced future plans. Before the interview starts, we want to thank the guys for a great period of collaboration for many successes under the flag of mTw and wish all participants every success in the future life, whether in playful or personal area.

mymTw.de: Hello zonic. How are you and what are you doing actually?

mTw|Danny Sørensen: Well to be honest I am not that happy, since it is by far one of the saddest days in my professional Counter Strike career. Right now I just finished my first 10 pages-essay at Copenhagen Business School, but what matters right now is of course the departure of the CS 1.6 international team :(

mymTw.de: Sad to hear that the CS1.6 international team will be released. What are the reasons for?

mTw|Danny Sørensen: It is no secret that the Counter Strike 1.6 scene is experiencing a dramatic downhill at the moment. Sponsors are slowly pulling out of teams and events, but it is also a time where you can really see the people working this game shine at their best, and I am truly proud of their performance.

mymTw.de: You are the last one, next to ave, from the old team NoA which joined mTw in 2006. How do you feel when you look back at that time?

mTw|Danny Sørensen: It was probably the best move we could ever do when Lars Eiben (former CEO of NoA) told that he wanted us to join with him when he was offered the CEO position of mTw. I have been playing under him for 6-7 years now and it is just sad that I won’t continue to play CS 1.6 under his wings. Looking at CS in general there is no doubt that my thoughts are with our performances back in 2008-early 2009 where we basically won every major tournament. Unfortunately after the departure of mJe and whimp we never managed to get back on that level with this team, and partly that’s probably my fault. But the whole phase where we replaced hpx with whimp and then saw how fast the team grew, that is something I will never forget.

mymTw.de:
You said you will not play CS1.6 under his wings. Do we see you in CS:S or CS:GO? Or do you depart completely from the gaming scene?

mTw|Danny Sørensen: It is a tough call. I don’t see myself playing any other than CS 1.6 - But I will continue working for mTw, since I feel this is my home now. Currently there are no offers for me, but I guess time will tell... I know a lot of people questioned my tweet: "It all ends in NY" - When I first wrote it, I actually decided to retire alongside ave, but I have had the time to think and I don’t really think I’m done yet. It was just a sad moment when mTw called it quits, and I’m just happy I didn’t come out in public with a retirement.

mymTw.de: That’s nice to hear that we will not lose you completely. :) When you look back at your time being a pro gamer, how does this time affect your personality or real life?

mTw|Danny Sørensen: It has affected me a lot. I have taught not to be so stubborn, and to see things differently. Furthermore all these trips have given me so much experience and respect for other cultures. I got tons of good friends I am sure I will be seeing after this adventure is over. And last but not least all the supporters out there who have supported mTw and me through everything.  You guys are definitely the reason for me continuing playing.

mymTw.de: Are there people, teams or events you truly remember?

mTw|Danny Sørensen: Yeah but I guess the database of mTw isn’t big enough to hold that much information ;). Obviously all the players who have played under the mTw tag: guddo, hpx, whimp, Sunde, mJe and the current team. Regarding events I must admit winning World Cyber Games in 2008 was the highlight of my career. Especially because of how we won it. I remember it was quite new when we pulled out scouts in the 3rd round in a Grand final and to then win the whole thing. Regarding events I remember ESWC for their huge crowd, World Cyber Games for actually thinking you are playing a star in the middle of a fairytale, and then to ESL for their professionalism and in my book the engine keeping 1.6 alive. These 3 tournaments are what define competition in Counter Strike. I don’t even want to mention Clanbase Eurocup and Kode5 even though it was our breakthrough in 2008, where we won our first major tournament. Still owing us 20.000 USD, and ignoring our emails is unfortunately a sad point in my career.

mymTw.de: Again sad to hear about the outstanding money. For a better mood can you tell us what the funniest moment in your career was?

mTw|Danny Sørensen:There have been tons of great moments. whimp puking all the way from China to Frankfurt because he celebrated our win at WEM 2008 a bit too much. Or when we dragged sleepy minet out from our apartment in ESWC 2010 where he woke up in the middle of the hallway where people were passing all the time. Or when guddo was yelling at Koreans from 5th floor in the middle of the night because the drivers kept using their horn all the time.

mymTw.de: Thank you for your time and we wish you all the best for the future. The famous last words are yours.

mTw|Danny Sørensen: I would like to thank everybody for a great time... Our fans/supporters, the mTw crew, my teammates, Danish fans obviously! - Our opponents and of course, all the sponsors who made all this possible. Especially Sennheiser has been phenomenal in all aspects. Take care all :)

Go on to the next page if you are intrested in the achievments of zonic and his team.
